For over 30 years, Aley Sheer served as the Founding Director of Camp Fiesta, South Florida’s free summer camp for kids with Cancer. Since 1986 it has been the summer home for these special campers who are treated to an 8-day, fun-filled, sleep-away camp experience. The program is housed in the air-conditioned comfort of the youth camp at Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale. Camp Fiesta is medically staffed around the clock and boasts a counselor-to camper ratio of 1-to-2, with all of the counselors being graduates of the camp program.
Camp Fiesta features a wide range of activities including swimming, sports, arts and crafts, canoeing, special events and field trips to many of South Florida’s most enjoyable attractions. The camp program is augmented by an exciting three- day, two- night adventure to Orlando for visits to three major theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure and more!
Aley remains involved with and supportive of the remarkable Camp Fiesta experience, which is provided free of charge to all the participants due to the support of its all-volunteer counselor staff and Board of Directors… and due to wonderful community support from organizations and individuals.
